FUE and DHI are the two most common modern hair transplant methods. Both remove hair loss–resistant follicles one by one from the donor area and implant them into thinning areas. The difference is not where the hair is taken from, but how it is implanted.
FUE in brief
In the classic FUE method, the surgeon first opens micro-channels in the recipient area and then places the grafts. This two-step approach gives excellent control over large areas and full-crown density restoration.
DHI in brief
The DHI method uses a Choi implanter pen that opens the channel and places the follicle in a single movement, giving very precise control of angle and direction and shortening the time the follicle spends outside the body.
Which should you choose?
Neither method is automatically better. FUE is efficient for large crown areas, while DHI excels at the hairline, temples and small precision areas such as beard work. An experienced clinic selects the method based on your donor area, goals and the treatment area.
